You don't need GPRS to use it



But you need a working internet connection on your Computer



Follow these steps.



1. Download this zip file.

2. Extract the contents of the zip file.

3. Install the software named "gMapMaker-setup".

4. Open this site http://www.mgmaps.com/create/

5. Find the area that You want to get a map of.

6. Draw a line around the area that You want mapped, by placing markers around in sequence. A single click places a marker, a click on a marker removes it. It is also possible to drag markers around after they have been placed.

6. Select the zoom level beneath the map (0 to 15 will be fine).

7. Keep the "Level of Detail" to Fast and rough.

8. Choose the desired "Type of map", Road maps or Satellite maps or satellite with road maps overlayed(hybrid).

9. Press the "Generate!" button. Wait for the script to generate everything.Download the MapYYMMDDHHIISS.map file. As a side note, Mozilla Firefox does the processing much much faster than IE does.

10. Open the software which we installed in step 3.Leave every setting as it is but change the operating mode to "MGmaps mode download tiles using a .map file". You can also change the default cache folder to your choice(Better make it desktop.)

11. Click GO. Now browse and add the MapYYMMDDHHIISS.map file we downloaded in step 9.

12. The software will start downloading tiles NOTE: It can take a really "LONG" time to download the tiles.

13. After the download is finished, copy the cache folder anywhere in your mobile's memory card.

14. Now install the mgmaps.jar AND mgmaps.jad files in your mobile.

15. Select the app "MobileGmaps" in your mobile, click option and goto Application access->Data Access and set "read user data" and "add and edit data" to always allowed.

16. Open the app.Goto menu->Settings->Map browsing. TICK "stored maps", offline mode" and "low memory". Untick "enhanced panning".Scroll down to storage path, browse to the location where you added the cache folder. when done, click option and save.

17. Open the settings again and click on "map types". Check the google maps/Google satellite/google hybrid according to the type of tiles you've downloaded.

18. Exit the application.ReOpen the application

19. Enjoy google maps offline.

20. Similarly you can use yahoo maps, Microsoft maps etc.













I have used this software for a while and haven't faced any probs till now. I can vouch that it works on my own Nokia 5130XM ( s40v5fp1 ) mobile.
